BURIED WORDS – Narrative Short Film – Stroke Recovery & Aphasia

Orris Productions presents the Narrative short film “Buried Words”: a look into the effect strokes & loss of speech can have on a close relationship, and how heavily we rely on our words for connection and don’t realize until they are gone. FILM SYNOPSIS: Megan bonds remotely with her distant mother through virtual reality, but everything changes when her mom suffers from a stroke during one of their sessions. When Megan serves as primary caregiver to her mother during winter break, they must learn to adapt their communication to sustain their close relationship. 0:00 Message from Creator 1:03 The Film 16:55 Credits MESSAGE FROM THE CREATOR: “Overall my deepest hope is for stroke survivors, people with aphasia, and their loved ones to watch the film together. To recognize their love for each other, and see relatable examples from the film that become talking points for what their past/current experiences are like. By encouraging open and patient dialog, we can hope to relieve some of the intense stress that people in our community facing these circumstances experience. With much gratitude for the opportunity, Nicholas Orris
