Of course, as a Pittsburgh native, and being on UPMC’s Hospital Patient and Family Advisory Council, I felt compelled to include the below video. My grandparents, Charles and Mary Harris, lived in the Pittsburgh neighborhood, The Hill District, that was serviced by Freedom House. I am beyond proud of the world’s first EMT responders!
I also want to give a shoutout to the late, Dr. Peter Safar, for his instrumental role in Freedom House, and in also helping to pioneer what is known as CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).
